La Barben: a thousand years of history

This little country village offers a warm welcome to visitors looking for a haven of greenery and freshness. La Barben is also famous for its castle and zoo, making it the ideal destination for a most enjoyable stay!

The monument that typifies the village is, of course, its château, which exemplifies all the history of Provence. The château also boasts an outstanding classical French garden attributed to Le Nôtre.

Next door to the château de La Barben – and easily spotted from its terrace – is the St-Sauveur chapel. The Romanesque chapel was bequeathed by the last marquis de Forbin to the village and has recently been restored. Continue your visit with La Barben zoo, the largest of its kind in the entire Provence-Alpes-Côte-D’azur region, boasting 33 hectares of sunny Mediterranean landscape all for the well-being of wild animals.

You will feel close to nature when visiting La Barben; you will find a lot of horses in the village, the living proof of the villagers’ passion for horse-riding.

There are many paths for walks and rides on horseback or bicycle to discover the pleasures of La Barben, along with B&Bs and restaurants.

La Barben awaits you for your holidays with family and friends!
